OPTIMIZATION OF AXIAL FANS

Our axial fans have been optimized and now feature a larger radiator with more fins and a larger cooling surface. The three fans now have more blades: 13 for the central fan, 11 for the auxiliaries. The ring of these has seen its size reduced for better lateral air circulation and throughout the cooling surface. The central fan's additional blades and its identically sized ring provide better static pressure, to force air directly over the GPU heatsink.

NEW DIRECTIONS

To further reinforce the specific roles of the central and auxiliary fans, we have reversed the direction of rotation of the former. This reduced airflow variations in the cooling area to boost overall thermal performance. The fans turn off completely when the card's power consumption is low and the GPU temperature drops below 50°C. Thus the noise level decreases when the system is in standby or under a low workload.

MAXCONTACT

To guide the heat away from the IC to the heatsink, the surface of the heatsink has been polished using MaxContact technology for smoothness. This extra-flat surface improves its contact with the printed circuit in order to improve heat transfer.

We've selected premium-grade capacitors, coils, and MOSFETs to deliver hundreds of watts in a millisecond. Super Alloy Power II components are soldered to the PCB using our sophisticated Auto-Extreme automated manufacturing processes. Smooth seals on the back of the circuit board and freedom from human error help ensure that every graphics card meets our specifications.

FanConnect II

The rear of the ROG Strix graphics card has two FanConnect PWM connectors, for even greater flexibility. Chassis fans can be connected directly to the GPU and scaled according to a curve based on CPU or GPU temperature, for better airflow during the most demanding 3D tasks.

CARD BACK COOLING

Flip the map over and you'll see another round of optimizations. A wide opening in the backplate and a shorter PCB allow hot air to be sent to the exhaust fans, instead of being recirculated by the GPU cooling system. The GPU support provides further stability to the critical chip-to-heatsink assembly. The I/O bracket is made of stainless steel to protect the ports and provide more secure mounting. The cleverly placed Dual Bios switch allows you to quickly choose between "performance" and "silent" modes, to quickly customize the card's settings without going through software.
